GE announces new European business leader for Rail Services

GE has appointed Jan Makela to the role of General Manager Europe for Rail Services.  The Rail Services business comes under the GE Equipment Services group, which is headquartered in Amsterdam.  Jan Makela has been the Quality Leader for GE Equipment Services in Europe since June 2002.  He originally joined GE mid 2000 as part of the Corporate Initiatives Group operating out of London.   Prior to this, Jan worked with management consultancy AT Kearney and in operational roles with Mars and Rover in Europe and the USA.  He has a Masters Degree in Engineering from Cambridge University, UK.  Jan is known throughout GE for his strong execution skills and proven ability to develop rigorous business strategies.
